Many people in the world have a dream of ‘getting away from it all’ and escaping to their own private island. There is something enchanting about an island and in Scotland there are hundreds for the intrepid traveller to choose from. That said, not all have their own five star hotel with spa and golf course! Welcome to the Isle or Eriska, a dream come true for any incentive group.

With stunning views overlooking Loch Linnhe and the Morvern Mountains, The Isle of Eriska is located at the mouth of Loch Creran in the heart of West Argyll, one of Scotland’s most stunning areas. The island is approximately 12 miles north of Oban, a 2-hour picturesque journey from Glasgow airport.  The private island is connected to the mainland by a bridge (above) that opens up to 300 acres of lush landscapes of Eriska, waiting for the incentive group to discover.

With its handsome Scottish Baronial Style architecture, the Eriska Hotel has 25 individual luxurious bedrooms with décor reflecting the hues from island; of course all have a view. Even in winter as you can see from the above picture.  With too many accolades to mention, the three Rosette restaurant is headed up by Ross Stovold; with his focus being on using the best produce that the West Coast of Scotland has to offer. These include salad, herbs and mushrooms from their own gardens, jellies and chutneys made from Eriska’s own berries, fish and shellfish from the local fishermen, meat from the local butcher and game from the surrounding estates. That’s not to mention the comprehensive wine list which runs to 40 pages and the famous farmhouse cheese trolley which boasts from a selection of around 40 cheeses.

The main part of the charm of Eriska is the ability it offers to explore the estate and enjoy the island as if it were your own; this makes an incentive memorable. From the formal grounds of the hotel to the western seaboard to the rugged hillside, the whole estate has a charm and is genuinely interesting and exciting for guests to explore. Highland cattle graze, badgers visit nearby, grey seals swim in the surrounding waters and distant islands form a stunning backdrop to Eriska’s 9 hole golf course. The adventurous of the group can enjoy a spot of sailing, shooting and many other activities arranged by Hello Scotland during their incentive trip on the island. While there is no excuse for being lazy on the Isle of Eriska, there is every excuse for relaxing within the plush ESPA spa suite!
